World History Update

In 7th Grade Social Studies, World History

Welcome to week 4!

This past week we finished up our studies on world belief systems, focusing on the major systems of the Middle East, South Asia, and East Asia. The students also started working on presentations on a specific belief system of their choice to research and present as “experts” to the class.”

Here is a snapshot of this week:
*Daily bellwork (linked and listed in Classroom)
*World Belief Systems Presentations
*Unit 2

Later this week we’ll start our second unit: Exploration and the Middle Passage where we’ll cover interregional interactions including but not limited to European exploration, the trans-African and trans-Atlantic slave systems, and land and oceanic trade systems. We’ll explore questions like how did trade shape society, what role did race, gender, ethnicity play in the slave trade, as well as how policy affected these exchange systems.

What’s going on with Mr. Dudek?

Had a relaxing weekend with the wife and the baby with the kiddos up in Flagstaff camping with our church group. They had a blast and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. I’m working my way through Theodore Rex by Edmund Morris, the second volume of the biography of Theodore Roosevelt, my favorite president. I also cleaned the garage and started brainstorming ideas for a book to write.

I hope you have a terrific week,
Mr. Dudek
