World History/Social Studies Week 29

In 7th Grade Social Studies, World History

Good evening and welcome to week 29 Roadrunners!

Last week we discussed the effects of decolonization during the Cold War. Post WWII saw the movement for self-determination kick into overdrive, particularly in southeast Asia and Africa. These events typically led to unstable governments, tense social situations between native groups, and economic reliance on former colonizers to help stabilize the regions.

This week we’ll focus on the western hemisphere and look at Latin American in the mid-20th century before our midterm exam.

What’s New with Mr. Dudek?
It was my brother’s wedding in Illinois two weekends and my kids and I were in the wedding so we flew out Wednesday and stayed with my mom. Did a bunch of projects for my mom: Installed a couple new light fixtures, garage door keypad, few new outlets, hung up some pictures and curtain rods, etc. The kids got sick on Thursday, Amanda got sick Friday, Mom got sick Saturday morning, so naturally I though I avoided it when I woke up feeling fine Sunday. How wrong I was. Sunday was spent camped out in the bathroom, Monday on the couch, flight got in just before midnight Monday night for me to wake up and come to volleyball practice. Fun times. This weekend saw me doing a lot of babyproofing after our littlest climbed out of her crib.

Have a great week Roadrunners!
Mr. Dudek
