World History/Social Studies Update

In 7th Grade Social Studies, World History

Good morning Roadrunners and welcome to week 8!

This past week we wrapped up the Colombian Exchange. It was a short week to come back to after the three day weekend for Labor day, so we looked at the discovery of the new world and how the new trade items (animals, crops, slavery, disease, etc) impacted the new and old worlds. Students had Thursday through Monday to complete an essay arguing whether or not the Colombian exchange was a net positive or negative for the world.

This week we’ll shift gears and start talking about The Renaissance, Reformation, and Scientific Revolutions.

What’s new with Mr. Dudek?
It was a crazy busy weekend. I was up in Pinetop Friday with the football team doing film and we didn’t get back till 2am Saturday. I then woke up at 7:30 to go to my son’s volleyball playoff game (they won and are in the finals next weekend) and left straight from there to go coach the JH Team C volleyball team in our first jamboree (they crushed it). I then promptly slept for 11 hours that night.

Have a wonderful week Roadrunners!
Mr. Dudek
