World History & Geography Update
Good afternoon and welcome to Finals Week Roadrunners!
I like the end of the year for world history because we have the opportunity to slow down a bit and focus on the modern issues facing us in our increasingly interconnected, interdependent and globalized world.
After studying World War II and the Cold War, we really dove into the events that have had lasting global impact and repercussions today. First we looked at U.S. involvement in Vietnam and how our international policies began to not work in our favor, then we moved on to the Arab/Israeli conflict and the U.S. War on Terror and the history of conflict in the Middle East and Eastern Europe after the Cold War. We had our own simulation where students were assigned a specific individual impacted by globalization, either good or bad, and had to prepare a presentation or a document as to how globalization has affected them.
Last week we reviewed the contents of the final and prepared today a notecard to assist with the final that we’ll take tomorrow 5/24.
What’s new with Mr. Dudek?
It’s kind of nice not having volleyball or yearbook after school every dat but I also don’t know what to do with all my extra time now. The weekends are still pretty busy with birthday parties and Myla caught a nasty bug last week that’s still taking it’s toll on her this week. Fingers crossed she’s well enough by Thursday for her promotion to kindergarten.
Have a wonderful week Roadrunners!
