World History Update
Rolling into week 36!
We covered A LOT of material this past week, from the Great Depression and age of dictators through the events of the Pacific and European Theaters in WWII.
To break up the lesson-heavy classes that we’ve had, this week I’m having the students create their own game based on the events of WWII. The main goal is to convey the post-war world and demonstrate what they’ve learned. The more into the project they are the more time they have to work on it. I’ve seem some elements of Dungeons and Dragons, monopoly, Trivia Pursuit, and Sorry among other influences in their projects. They’ll have until at least Wednesday to complete the project but if they’re super into it I’m giving them until Friday to get work done.
The general classroom attitude has improved as well, I think the more “modern” our history gets the more interest the students seem to have in it.
The week ahead:
Weekly Bellwork
WWII Project
Holocaust (maybe)
What’s going on with Mr. Dudek?
The girls just wrapped up their club season this weekend and they took 2nd place in the gold division of the AZ Championships so that’s awesome! As much as I enjoy coaching, I’m looking forward to having some time off between seasons, especially when the boys seasons is over and the yearbook is submitted.
I hope you have a terrific week!
