Sports Broadcasting Update

 In Uncategorized

Welcome to week 27!

Firstly, I’ve received a lot of positive feedback regarding our latest livestreams. Viewership is up, we’re getting more recognition, and with that we can make the case to expand our coverage.

We start this week busy but then get some reprieve at the end of the week.

Junior high games haven’t started yet so we only have two days worth of games this week: Tomorrow (Tuesday the 16th) and Wednesday. The Signup Genius can be found here: Broadcasting Week of 2/16

With this new focus on invigorating our sports coverage, there are four areas that we are honing in on that will determine how points are earned for the class:
1) Live broadcast. This consists of four areas: a) camera operator, b) tablet operator, c) music manager, d) PA/play-by-play announcer.
2) Stat-taking – to be used with game story writing.
3) Game story writing
4) Feature Profile story writing.

For home-based learners, this means that you won’t be able to do the live broadcasting portion, but can still watch the stream to take stats, work on the game story, or focus on players/coaches to do a profile story on. This week we’ll review the “game story” as well as feature profiles.

So, between the livestreaming, story writing, and statistics we should have plenty to do in class.

What’s new with Mr. Dudek?
Busy as a bee. I finally finished putting up the hanging shelves in my garage, put up the wall mount for a TV in the bedroom, put together the basketball hoop for my son, took my daughter to dance class, and took the family to the Phoenix Zoo.

Have a terrific week!
Mr. Dudek
