Sports Broadcasting
Good morning Roadrunners and welcome to week 15!
This week was a little laid back compared to most. With our home events done there hasn’t been much for us to do for live broadcasting so we’ve shifted our focus to creating our stories. While we’re looking at sports writing as our focus, any of the stories we write can be completed as a video project. As a matter of fact, I encourage it! While it is important to know the who, what where, when, why and how (5 W’s and an H) as it relates to creating lead in writing, it is equally important in organizing the same when making videos.
The week ahead:
Monday – Rough Drafts of first stories are due
Tuesday – Peer Edits
Wednesday – Final stories due.
These dates are flexible based on the story being written. For example, varsity volleyball has their first playoff game at The Nest Tuesday at 6, so a preview story should go out by Tuesday, and a recap story should go out Wednesday or Thursday. A win means another preview story opportunity and a loss means the end of the season and a season recap story.
This week:
Tuesday: Varsity Volleyball Playoff game.
As always if your student has late/missing assignments please encourage them to get them turned in. I am lenient with the late policy and as long as students turn in quality work it is graded accordingly.
What’s going on with Mr. Dudek?
Worked with my father-in-law on fixing up our old Jeep. A rocker arm had fallen out and the head gasket was cracked. Just in time too because my car needs some new tie rod ends and a new power steering pump. No rest for the weary. Volleyball is over and so is the cultural fair, so maybe I can start sleeping again 😛
As ALWAYS, if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or concerns please feel free to reach out to me. Also, if you see errors in the grade book, please email me.
Have a great week Roadrunners,
~Mr. Dudek
