AP World History Update

On to week 22!

It was an interesting week this week with the half days and then the events at the Capitol on Wednesday. It did provide an opportunity to view the event from the lens of a historian and see the various aspects of what happened (how this is new to the US but not new to the world, impact of social media, censorship, race relations, political extremes, etc.) and the impact that will be felt for ages to come.

As we move from chapter 18 to 19, we cover the collision of cultures and ideas between Europe, the Middle East, and East Asia. Since we’re 2/3rds of the way through the content for the class (and comfort with the multiple choice format of the exam) we have a good opportunity to begin work on the short essay, long essay and dreaded Data Based Question (DBQ) that make up the bulk of the writing points for the exam. The plan is to still finish the content by Spring Break and have a month to work on skills, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get a jump start on it.

What’s new with Mr. Dudek?
Nothing new. This weekend should be boring (thankfully). My middle child is turning 4 in a couple of weeks and club volleyball has its first tournament on the horizon.

Have a terrific week Roadrunners!
