Film Studies Week 19

 In Film Studies

Good morning and welcome to finals week!

The end of the year seems to approach so quickly from Thanksgiving to Christmas, I can’t believe the first semester is almost over.

Last week I assigned the students their final, which is an essay. The broad goal is for the students to describe how specific cinematic techniques are used to create a response or feeling from the audience. Students can choose to focus on one technique and how different films use that technique, they could focus on a director and how they use specific techniques across multiple films. I’ve encouraged them to make the essay as long as they want but should be at least 600 words and use examples of several films from what we’ve viewed in class as well as films they’ve seen outside of class.

To end the year I plan on showing a holiday fil of some sort. Elf is one of my personal favorites but I kind of want to show something that not many of them may have seen. I’m open to suggestions as well!

What’s new with Mr. Dudek?
It was actually a pretty chill weekend in the Dudek house this week: Myla had dance practice, I took Peter to a playdate with a friend. I also finished the work I needed to do on the Nissan, now just to get an alignment and I’ll be ready to register it again. Of course, watching the Packers beat the Bears is always a good time for the Dudek Household 🙂

Have a great week roadrunners!
