Film Studies Week 26 Update
Good evening and welcome to week 26!
After tackling the deeper subject matter of dark comedy we decided to take a break from themes to refocus on elements of cinematography. For film genres we’re tackling fantasy/adventure and, while many would consider it a straight up comedy, we viewed Who Framed Roger Rabbit? The cinematic focus is on the acting and, in this case, how actors work when there is nobody to interact with on screen. Bob Hoskins did a phenomenal job and the students seemed to enjoy the behind the scenes and how the animation worked around him.
The next few films on the docket include Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings. In each case, we’re looking at the blending of special and visual effects along with the actors’ work to make it come to life.
What’s new with Mr. Dudek?
Boy’s volleyball has begun! This means I’m currently coaching two teams and have my work cut out for me. Surprisingly, not looking too much sleep despite practices beginning at 6:30a.m. Just the usual stuff with the kiddos.
Have a great weekend roadrunners!
