World History/Social Studies Week 25

In 7th Grade Social Studies, World History

Good evening Roadrunners!

Last week we discussed the use of technology in WWII. We had discussions on whether or not America should have dropped the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Hitler’s mistake of invading Russia in winter with no preparation, and the new type of warfare being fought with media.

The project we started last week was to do a radio broadcast of a battle in WWII. The students were put into groups and randomly assigned a key battle of the war. Using a guidesheet that was provided along with rubric, the students are to make a 3-5 minute radio broadcast that they can either record or perform in class. The plan is to present the projects on Tuesday, afterwards we’ll begin studying the Cold War.

What’s New with Dudek?
It seems all my weekends are busy now: Peter had a volleyball match, Myla had dance; Peter then went to a birthday party and, afterwards, I went to coach a club tournament in Tempe. This was just Saturday. Sunday wasn’t too bad though, I’m getting up earlier to get ready for boys volleyball which starts Monday morning at 6:30. I fixed a broken toilet seat, practiced some piano, and picked up some Girl Scout cookies for the family.

Have a great week Roadrunners!
