Yearbook Update

Week 23 ahead!

It has been an interesting week: The AIA reversed its initial decision to cancel the winter sports season so basketball is back on! We have our first home game next Friday for both JV and Varsity so I’ll be looking for photographers.

Speaking of photographers, here is the signup genius for next weeks activities: Activities 1/19-1/22

Our Herff Jones rep came in on Tuesday to go through the design and layout process of putting pages together. I feel like everyone has a clear understanding of what is expected of them.

That being said, I’m still not seeing a lot of work being completed. There are a couple of outstanding students taking on designing pages, but not so much from others. For instance, I had an assignment earlier this week asking for what pages they’re working on and, if they’re not working on a page, what pages they want to design. Of the 30 students in class I only received nine responses.

Students have to take ownership of the yearbook or the yearbook will suffer, as well as grades.

Please speak with your child about their contributions to the book and encourage them to make it their own.

Next week I’m assigning pages to either their first selections or to random pages and work to complete several pages by next Friday. We’ll review caption/copywriting as well as aesthetics of page design.

What’s going on with Mr. Dudek?
Club has its first tournament this weekend so I’ll be at it Saturday through Monday (no rest for the weary). My daughter turns four on the 20th so we’ll be celebrating her throughout the weekend and week ahead.

As ALWAYS, if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or concerns please feel free to reach out.

Have a great week Roadrunners,
~Mr. Dudek
