Sports Broadcasting Update
Happy Friday the 13th!
This past week we worked on developing our first sports stories for the upcoming website and, on the whole, the work being turned in looks great! On the other hand, fewer than half the students submitted their work.
*With 34 students in class I cannot assign 34 different stories each week. Whether it is writing player/coach profiles, student-athlete of the week, preview, recaps, or feature stories, the students are to come up with their topics, conduct interviews, and create their stories.*
They are not restricted to doing written stories either: The studio is open to use before and after school for recording video interviews/broadcasts. Our online students can reach out to coaches, players, look at our MaxPreps pages, and “report from home” using their room as their broadcast studio.
Next week we’re going to be covering more of the language used for written and video sports news (AP Style) while drafting our next set of stories. I’ll be incorporating more exercises to get us more athletically minded.
What’s going on with Mr. Dudek?
Nothing new. With volleyball over I’m getting home at a decent hour each day and my kids are happy to see me.
As ALWAYS, if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or concerns please feel free to reach out.
Have a great week Roadrunners,
~Mr. Dudek
