Film Studies Week 36

 In Film Studies

Good afternoon Roadrunners and welcome to week 36!

In honor of Star Wars Week last week, we watch the perfect film Empire Strikes Back, examining how John Williams use of the Imperial March for Vader’s Theme as well as Yoda’s theme. We also explored the topic of why/how films become cultural phenomena.

The goal is to get the students to recognize what the effects are of deliberate cinematography choices and how to replicate them in their own films, to help students find a voice in today’s world and a different avenue to express themselves.

This week we’re exploring another franchise film by examining the best Harry Potter film: The Prisoner of Azkaban, directed by Alphonso Curron and music by John Williams. Curron brings a new vision to the film, perfectly addressing the darker tone of the film with his unique framing and lighting elements to draw the audience in.

What’s new with Mr. Dudek?
Nothing new, I actually have some time to myself without running around for yearbook or volleyball so it’s nice being able to relax every now and then.

Have a great week roadrunners!
