Film Studies Week 29

 In Film Studies

Good evening and welcome to week 29!

It was an odd week to get back into the swing of but I feel like we’re moving in a good direction. With the shift in focus to the craft of making films, last week we learned from directors Taika Watiti (Thor Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit) and Quentin Tarantino (Inglorious Basterds, Kill Bill) on how they write their films and construct their worlds. Then we shifted gears a bit and watched a video on Steven Spielberg and how his life has contributed to his films. For our director spotlight on Spielberg, the students selected Catch Me If You Can starring Tom Hanks and a young Leonardo DiCaprio. The diversity of Spielberg’s work make him a great director to feature.

This week we’ll cut our film viewing with behind the scenes on the making of the film and dissecting Spielberg’s craft.

What’s new with Mr. Dudek?
Just another busy weekend with the family. Dance, birthday parties, the usual. My little one climbed out of her crib so I’ve been doing some work in the kids room babyproofing, converting crib into bed, and the like.

Have a great weekend roadrunners!
