Film Studies Update Week 28

 In Film Studies

Good morning and welcome to week 28!

Last week marked our shift from studying film to making film. Students were given choice menus for different types of videos they can make, or they could choose to make something entirely their own. Some finished their films and edits over the weekend, others are putting the final touches on today. I’m very much looking forward to what the students produce! This week we’re going to explore the art of filmmaking and how to create moods, tones, effects, and emotions we’ve been studying all year.

I’m also submitting a field trip proposal to go and see a film in theaters. The general consensus is the class wants to see Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson. The film is rated PG-13 for strong violent and disturbing content, drug content, strong language, and some suggestive material (in other words, a Batman movie). It does also have a nearly 3 hour runtime.

What’s new with Mr. Dudek?
It was my brother’s wedding in Illinois this weekend and my kids and I were in the wedding so we flew out Wednesday and stayed with my mom. Did a bunch of projects for my mom: Installed a couple new light fixtures, garage door keypad, few new outlets, hung up some pictures and curtain rods, etc. The kids got sick on Thursday, Amanda got sick Friday, Mom got sick Saturday morning, so naturally I though I avoided it when I woke up feeling fine Sunday. How wrong I was. Sunday was spent camped out in the bathroom, Monday on the couch, flight got in just before midnight Monday night for me to wake up and come to volleyball practice. Fun times.

Have a great week Roadrunners!
