Film Studies Update – Week 22

 In Film Studies

Good evening and welcome back from the long weekend!

This past week we began working on comparing the different interpretations of the character Spiderman, looking specifically at the Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield performances. Our big topic this week is comparing and contrasting similar works. With Spiderman, we’re looking performances and the effects acting choices have on the audience. That being said, when we do our compare/contrast essay, students can choose similar works to compare/contrast – Daniel Craig vs Sean Connery, Ben Afleck vs. Christian Bale, driving in different heist films, etc.

This week we’ll finish up The Amazing Spiderman and work towards our essays and deciding our next film viewings. I believe an important part of film is experiencing the cinema, so I’m looking into details for a potential field trip to see a movie in theaters. This is highly tentative and takes a lot of work to plan but I wanted to put it on the radar.

What’s new with Mr. Dudek?
It was a busy weekend for me; I was coaching our 14s volleyball team in the MLK tournament at the new Legacy Sports Park all three days this weekend, donated plasma twice, and attended a memorial service in Phoenix. I feel like I need a three-day weekend to recover from my weekend.

Have a great week roadrunners!
